My name is BJ Chiszar and I am proud to announce that I will carry the banner for tolerance and equality in the upcoming Mayoral election!
I find myself displeased with the choices before the voters, so I aim to do something about it! I think we need a REAL progressive voice to put forward FAIR solutions that deal with the out of control violent crime, traffic, waste, tolls, and corruption!
We need a pro-environment, pro-Mass transit Mayor that can build coalitions within our diverse community to get things done!
As the Former Democratic Party Chair for Miami-Dade County I have always stood for and fought for Equality, the Environment, choice and Responsible budgeting.
The following key issues highlight some of BJ's platform and first actions he will take when elected.
Annual Parades/Festivals commemorating: Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, World AIDS day, Labor Day, Earth Day, a Cultural Festival of Miami-Dade's diverse cultures, and Vets suicide awareness walk. Events will be free and open to the public.
First Priority: To work with the Homeless Trust, the DDA, and the City of Miami to provide immediate short term and long term housing to ALL Homeless children, families and veterans in Miami-Dade County.
With an adult illiteracy rate of over 40%, we must increase investment in the Library system’s Project LEAD. We must address this economic issue. We need to put more money into the Libraries system period. This justifies increasing the library system’s capital, human & modernization budgets and the specific library millage rate.
VETERANS and SENIORS
Effective for the first budget cycle, 2017/2018, BJ will make it a priority to implement a Pets Trust property tax dedicated to the Animal Services department. Revenue generated by the Pets Trust property tax, will be offset by a general fund tax cut by the same amount.
Campaign Finance Reform
B.J. Chiszar is publicly calling for the County Commissioners to pass an immediate ordinance or allow a November Charter election to limit ALL campaign contributions in County elections to $100 per individual per election cycle.
Additional Government Reforms
Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption
